If you’re shopping for a Bat Mitzvah, Senior Prom, Junior Prom, Sweet 16, 8th Grade Dance, Pageant, Wedding Guest, or any other special occasion that calls for a formal cocktail dress or gown, then yes — an appointment is required!
We are by appointment for all special occasion dresses and gowns. Scheduling an appointment guarantees you a fitting room during our busiest seasons and ensures that one of our experienced sales associates is available to provide personalized assistance throughout your visit.
Our team is here to answer your questions, help you find the perfect dress, offer styling advice, and assist with zippering, lacing, and proper fitting so you can enjoy a relaxed and personalized shopping experience.
A parent or legal guardian who is at least 25 years old must be present for the duration of all Prom dress shopping appointments.
A parent or guardian is not required for retry appointments, alteration appointments, or dress pickups.
If you are unable to have a parent or guardian attend your shopping appointment due to circumstances beyond your control, please email us at LOLASNJ@GMAIL.COM. We will do our best to accommodate your situation whenever possible.
Please note that this policy is standard practice at many formalwear boutiques throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. It is in place to ensure the best possible shopping experience for our customers and is not unique to LOLA’S.

Our physical boutique has a much larger selection of dresses, accessories, and styles available to shop in person. We receive new arrivals regularly, so you’ll find many items in-store that are not yet featured on our website.

Please note that each appointment is reserved for one shopper only. If more than one person in your party will be trying on special occasion dresses, a separate appointment is required for each shopper to ensure everyone receives the personalized attention they deserve.

No. Like many formalwear and eveningwear boutiques, all dresses and gowns purchased/ordered in-store at our boutique are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
Please note that purchases remain final even if your event is postponed or canceled, or if you decide the dress is no longer the right choice after purchase.

Originally founded by Lola and Bruce Berent, LOLA’S was owned and operated by them until October 2, 2020, when Melanie Gibson became the sole owner at just 23 years old.
Melanie has been part of the LOLA’S family since January 2015 and is proud to continue the boutique’s tradition of providing exceptional service and helping customers find the perfect dress for every special occasion.
We recommend shopping for your Bat Mitzvah dress 6–8 months before your celebration whenever possible. This gives you the best selection and allows plenty of time to special order your dream dress and complete any necessary alterations before your event.
If you have less than 6–8 months, don’t worry! We carry a large selection of Bat Mitzvah dresses in stock year-round, and in many cases, we can still special order a dress in time, depending on the designer’s availability and production schedule.

Anytime is a great time to shop for a prom dress at LOLA’S! Unlike many boutiques, we carry prom dresses year-round, so you don’t have to wait for prom season to find the perfect dress.
Shopping earlier gives you the widest selection and plenty of time for any special orders or alterations, but if you’re shopping closer to your prom date, don’t worry—we have a large selection in stock and are here to help you find the perfect dress.
January through April is our busiest season of the year, so during those months we’re open 7 days a week, including Sundays, to better accommodate our customers.
From May through December, we are closed on Sundays to give our team—including our owner—a well-deserved day to rest and spend time with their families after our busiest season.

Bridal Reconstruction is a signature service created by LOLA’S in 2024 that transforms a cherished family wedding gown into something new while preserving its sentimental value.
Whether it’s your mother’s or grandmother’s wedding dress, our expert alterations team can reimagine it into a beautiful outfit for your engagement party, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or wedding reception after-party. We can also create meaningful keepsakes from the original gown, including a bridal robe, a custom clutch bag, or other one-of-a-kind pieces, depending on your vision.
Because every Bridal Reconstruction project is completely custom, the process can take up to one year in some cases. We recommend contacting us as soon as you know you’d like to move forward so we have as much time as possible to bring your vision to life.
Don’t have a full year before your wedding? That’s okay! Every project is different, and we’ll do our very best to make it work within your timeline. The sooner you reach out, the more options we’ll have to create something truly special for you.
Bridal Reconstruction services typically range from $1,000–$1,500, depending on the scope and complexity of the project. Clutch Bags are a flat rate of $350.

Yes! We proudly offer alterations on items purchased both from LOLA’S and from other stores.
